摘 要

影视翻译既是介绍异域文化的简洁直观的手段,又是传播本国本民族文化的重要途径。影视著作反映了一定的社会文化背景,源于生活又高于生活,其语言对白及其译文具有不同于其他文体的特点:口语化,情感化和大众化。因此,英语论文题目,在进行影视著作翻译时,应针对其特点采用不同的翻译准则。影视翻译就是用形象化的语言来表达形象思维中高超的艺术意境和文化意象。美国影视著作中的文化和思维方式与中文迥异,英语论文,影视著作的翻译必然受到跨文化交际的作用。从传递影片中所蕴含的文化目的出发,力求达到英语影视翻译中的信达雅。

Abstract

Film translation is not only the concise means to introduce foreign culture, but also is an important way to spread their own native culture. Film and television works reflect a certain social cultural background, from life and above life, its language and dialogue translation have different characteristics from other style: colloquial, emotional and popularization. Translation of film and television works should be characterized according to the different principles of translation. Film translation is using visual language to express the image thinking in the superb artistic conception and cultural image. Film and television works translation inevitably affected by the cross-cultural communication. Making every effort to achieve elegant writing in English film translation is to achieve the purpose of film translation.

1.    Introduction
This paper will be divided into five parts. The first part will give a brief introduction of research background and research aim. The second part will be the analysis of the main features and constraints of movie subtitles. The third part will be the analysis of the characteristics of subtitle translation. The fourth part is going to introduce the principles and corresponding strategies of subtitle translation. And the last part is the conclusion.
1.1    Research background
With the expansion of globalization and the increase of cross-border communication, there has been a surging demand for more audio-visual products such as films, TV programmers, videos on the Internet, computer games, DVDs, etc. Considered in numerical terms, audiovisual translation is the most important translation activity of our time: firstly, it reaches to the largest number of people all over the world, far bigger than the number that literary translation (to which most attention from the academic world of translation has been paid) can do; secondly, it has a fairly large quantity of translated products which cross over to other cultures like news, documentaries, films, television series, debates, concerts, etc.
