ABSTRACT
Anti-Semitism, as an important part of racism, has a long history, which plays a significant role for European thoughts of race. Even if Charles Dickens who is the England outstanding critical author in 19 century cannot avoid this thought. Although he has denied his discrimination for the Jews, his discrimination also has been shown on his works unconsciously. This thesis takes Fagin in Oliver Twist as an example to analyze the anti-Semitism thought of Charles Dickens from the description of Fagin’s image, disposition and other parts.

摘 要
反犹主义思想是种族歧视思想的重要组成部分。它的存在历史悠久，对一代又一代欧洲人的种族主义思想起了重要影响。即使是19世纪英国杰出的批判主义小说家狄更斯也难以挣脱反犹主义思想的禁锢。虽然狄更斯否认了对犹太人的歧视，英语论文范文，但反犹主义思想在其小说中仍不时的体现了出来。本文以《雾都孤儿》中的费金为例，英语毕业论文，略论狄更斯对费金的外貌、性格等的描写所呈现出的反犹主义思想。

Chapter One Introduction
1.1 Introduction of Charles Dickens
Charles Dickens is an English writer and social critic. He has created some of the world’s most memorable fictional characters and is generally regarded as the greatest novelist of the Victorian period. During his life, his works enjoyed unprecedented fame, and by the twentieth century his literary genius was broadly acknowledged by critics and scholars. His novels and short stories continue to be widely popular.
Born in Portsmouth, England, Dickens was forced to leave school to work in a factory when his father was thrown into debtors’ prison. Although he had little formal education, his early impoverishment drove him to succeed. Over his career he edited a weekly journal for 20 years, wrote 15 novels, five novellas and hundreds of short stories and non-fiction articles, lectured and performed extensively, was an indefatigable letter writer, and campaigned vigorously for children’s rights, education, and other social reforms.
