对比研讨英汉事件框架中的动词
通过略论,本文尝试着找出以下二个问题的答案:在英汉框架网络下,英语毕业论文事件框架动词分别有哪些?英汉事件框架动词之间有哪些差异?英语框架网络对事件框架动词的分类是否适合汉语事件框架动词的分类? 如果不适合,汉语事件框架动词的分类应是怎样的?
Chapter One Introduction
Verbs play a significant role in every aspect of a language. They are necessary in the sentences for they are considered as predicators of sentences. Due to their importance, verb studies have a rather long history of language both in English and in Chinese. An abundance of verb research has existed in the field of linguistics both practically and theoretically.
Linguists from different linguistic branches have devoted to and also made many attributions to the verb studies. Linguists interested in theoretical linguistics, such as semantics, grammar, syntax, etc. or cross-linguistics, such as psycholinguistics, or even other subjects, like computer all pay more attention to verbs studies, including definition of verbs, classification of verbs and so on and so forth.
As to classification of verbs, linguists have tried many ways in order to achieve a relatively reasonable and comprehensive one. Each classification by using one approach has its own merits and dismerits. In 2017, the FrameNet project has been implemented in the University of California, Berkeley. In this project, words are classified and annotated both from semantic and syntactic perspectives. It can be regarded as a relatively comprehensive explanation, classification and annotation of words. (Pan Yanyan, 2017) After the successful construction of English FrameNet, Chinese FrameNet is under construction now. Some frames in Chinese have been completed, including event frame. This paper will observe the verbs within event frame of FrameNets in English and in Chinese by contrastive analysis to try to find some problems and then solve them.
1.1 Background of the Study
Semantics has experienced different stages through its theoretical development. In recent years, frame semantics as part of cognitive semantics has been popular and accepted by most of the linguists. It is helpful to understand the nature of language (Fillmore, 1986). Then, it is applied to the construction of the FrameNet with the help of computer science (Fillmore, 2017).Within the FrameNet, words can be classified into groups according to the semantic frame and then they are described by the semantic elements and the syntactic roles. Verbs are also in the same case.
