The purpose of this study is effective multicultural education targeting Korean elementary students. Application of traditional fairy tales would be suggested as a media of multicultural education. As Korea starts as a multicultural society, conflicts and problems emerge. To solve these problems, educational efforts are emphasized. However, most of researches have a focus on adjustment education of students with multicultural background. In addition, though multicultural education is reflected by its curriculum. it doesn’t work well in the field. In consideration of these problems, this study discussed the multicultural education for Korean elementary students. Since students in the period of elementary school can accept and learn various cultures without prejudice, multicultural education is required indeed. This study applied traditional fairy tale as a media for effective multicultural education. Educational values and their efficacy traditional fairy tales have were examined, and the selection standard of traditional fair tale was referred to choose and analyze them. In consideration of previously researched selection standard of traditional fair tale and statistics, fairy tales and countries are selected. 「Kongjwi and Padjwi」of Korea, 「Spikedace」of China, and 「Tteom and Kkam」 of Vietnam were selected and they were analyzed on the ground of multicultural education content areas. This study analyzed 「Kongjwi and Padjwi」of Korea, 「Spikedace」of China, and 「Tteom and Kkam」 of Vietnam according to 3 areas of culture, equality, and cooperation and suggested a teaching and learning process plan. More active discussions on multicultural education teaching and learning process plans for Korean students in school education fields are expected through this study. In addition, it is expected that multicultural education in school education fields would be more effectively fulfilled.
