Writing skills is the most difficult area among language features for learners. Especially beginner learners have less knowledge on vocabulary, sentence system and grammar of Korean language and there is a difficulty for Korean discourse community to perform writing activities. At Korean language education sites, based on communication based approach, spoken language related speaking-listening activities at beginner stage were performed, however, writing related teaching and learning activities relatively are not enough. This is also shown in a process that suggests writing tasks in current Korean language text books. Also, as a type of writing task presented in the text books are not accurate, both teacher and learner have difficulties in writing activities. For this reason, this will develop and suggest writing task that can be utilized in beginner step of Korean language. For the purpose of the study, 『International Korean standard education model』(2010, 2011) is analyzed and based on the analysis result, contents of purpose of the writing education and writing course of study that beginner learner shall reach are selected.
Also, Korean language learner at beginner step lack of cognition of what are the texts that can be acceptable in Korean language discourse community, so that through genre based approach, 4 genres that beginner learner should learn have been divided. Based on this, at each genre, type of writing text that beginner learner can write is selected. In order for the learner to practice this, writing task is specified and suggested through process based approach.
This Study realized an importance of writing education from the beginner step, and develop desirable writing task. For writing education that is needed for learners at beginner step, concept and characteristics of 'writing as a foreign language' are reviewed. Furthermore, concept and elements of writing tasks are clarified, and by recognizing an importance of genre-progress integration approach for Korean language learner at beginner step, it tries to reflect this on developing writing tasks.
In order to develop writing tasks, firstly 『International Korean standard education model』(2010, 2011) is analyzed, and Korean language writing education's purpose, subject, functions and course of study as‘standard curriculum’are reviewed. Also, 1st to 4th books of 『king Sejong Korean language』(2013) based on standard curriculum’ is analyzed to investigate the type of writing tasks that are suggested to beginner learners by analyzing writing task that is realized in the text books.
Based on this, writing task for beginner learners is developed and suggested. Firstly, based on‘standard curriculum beginner Korean language educational purpose is established and based on this, Korean language writing educational purpose for each genre is specified and suggested. Also in order to establish writing course of study, 4 types of texts that beginner learners can write are suggested, and specific writing texts for each type are suggested by dividing into context element and text element.
Writing task that is developed in this study is composed in a way that beginner learners would be able to accept Korean language discourse community to complete the texts. Also, by utilizing genre-progress integration approach for 'writing for delivering information and understanding', 'writings for persuasion' that are suggested to learners with academic purpose in the previous studies in order to suggest specific writing tasks.
By applying writing theory of genre-progress integration approach, and suggesting them as writing task specifically and accurately to teacher and learner, both of them will be able to perform writing tasks in class environment.
Thus, this study is meaningful in that it suggested to beginner learner 4 types of writing genre according to communication function that Korean language discourse community can write, and in order to perform this, types of writing task is suggested and specified by applying ‘genre-progress integration approach'.
This study selected 4 types of Korean language writing genres for beginner learner, but there is a need to discuss the text type for this additionally. Specifically, there shall be studies of characteristics of texts that can be accepted in Korean language discourse community, or commonly used, and also studies of differences between native language writer and Korean language leaner's genre.
