이 논문은 재일코리안 3, 4세대 작가인 김마스미 작품 『羅聖の空』, 『燃える草家』, 「ロスの御輿太鼓」을 중심으로 디아스포라 의식과 미국표상에 대해 연구하였다. 재일코리안인 주인공은 무용과 디아스포라의 관계를 통해 한국과 일본을 모두 수용하며, 자신이 주체가 되어 세계를 파악하기 시작한다. 모어와 모국어가 일치되지 않는 재일코리안은 일본어 밖에 하지 못하는 ‘일본어인’을 인정하면서도, 한국어를 하지 못하는 것에 대한 죄의식을 느낀다.
김마스미 문학은 재일코리안 문학의 주요 배경이 되었던 일본과 한국을 벗어나 미국 로스앤젤레스에서 전개된다. 미국 로스앤젤레스는 재일코리안에게 자기표명의 여유를 제공하고, 다양한 디아스포라의 관계 속에서 ‘재일코리안’을 발견하게 하는 장소이다. 김마스미는 미국사회의 한흑 갈등을 소재로 하여 재일코리안의 마이너리티적 위치를 비유적으로 표현한다.
재일코리안의 경계인적 위치를 표현하기 위해 모어와 모국어의 갈등을 겪는 재일코리안을 ‘일본어인’, 말로 설명하기 위해 재일코리안의 상황을 ‘중간색’, 한국적 아이덴티티를 가지면서 일본인으로 살아가려는 재일코리안을 ‘코리안 재패니즈’로 표현한다.
김마스미 문학에서 나타나는 월경은 모국, 거주국, 이동국의 계속적인 이주로, 이동은 ‘특수’한 삶이 아닌 보편적 삶이라는 것을 나타낸다. 또한 어디에도 속하지 못하는 이방인 의식은 ‘국가’의 범주에서만 생겨나는 것이 아니라 ‘정신’적인 측면에서 볼 때 현대사회의 인간은 모두 낯선 환경에서 이방인이다. 이방인 의식을 통해 인간의 보편적인 삶을 그리고 있는 김마스미 문학은 ‘재일’의 특수성에서 한발 더 나아가 다양한 주제와 소재, 그리고 보편성 확보로 세계문학의 기조에 다가가고 있다.

This study is for, based on a piece of a Korean Japanese writer Kim-Masumi, 『Sky of Los Angeles』, 『Burning Thatched House』, 「Palanquin and Drum of Los Angeles」, Diasporic Consciousness and representation of Los Angeles. Kim-Masumi, a 3rd and 4th generation of resident in Japan, shows conflicts between the existing generation and the present generation through ‘endogamy’, ‘naturalization’, and describes ‘historical characters of Korean resident in Japan’.
Kim-Masumi as a Korean, using Japanese name and having an education as a Japanese, is familiar with Japanese society rather than Korean society, she can’t be free from the identity problem. Considering those individual state identity fundamentally, she let know starting of literature.
Nara in 『Sky of Los Angeles』 approaches Korean identity by learning a dance, and at the same time, realizes that Japanese identity also is a part of herself. Nara, through relation between a dance and Diaspora, adopts both Korean and Japan, and understands the world by alone. Korean resident in Japan having differences between the mother tongue and the native tongue realizes that she is a stranger which cannot be included in both side from speaking Korean brokenly.
A Kim-Masumi's literature is developed with Los Angeles away from Japan. Los Angeles in America provides composure of self-expression to Korean resident in Japan, and does a role as a positive place finding Korean resident in Japan on the relation with various Diaspora. 『Burning Thatched House』 using ‘conflicts between Yellow and Black’ in American society as a writing material, describes racial discrimination and through this, expresses minor position of Korean resident in Japan in Japan society figuratively.
Kim-Masumi expresses boundary position of Korean resident in Japan through Korean resident in Japan having verbal conflicts between the mother tongue and the native tongue to ‘Japanese speaking person’, situation of Korean resident in Japan which cannot be explained with a tongue to ‘medium color’, and positive representation living as a Japanese with Korean identity to ‘Korean Japanese’.
Crossing the border appeared in literature of Kim-Masumi is successive movements connected closely among mother country, residential country, and moving country, and now, crossing the border describes a common life rather than a special life. Diaspora realizing ‘stranger’ cannot be appeared only from crossing the border, and considering it from a spiritual aspect, modern people always can be a stranger in an unfamiliar environment and it can say a common life of people. Literature of Kim-Masumi describing a common life of a people approaches to basis of world literature by securing various subject, material, and universality by having one step forward from specialty of ‘Korean resident in Japan’.
Literature of Kim-Masumi described agony and conflict that present generation of Korean resident in Japan has, and secured diversity by moving spatial environment of literature to Los Angeles in America. Literature of Kim-Masumi, having differences with the existing literature from the aspect of diversity and universality of Korean Japanese literature, can be used as a text providing an index to the life of modern people.
