To achieve foreign language learning outcome effectively, there are many constraints to be overcome due to the lack of opportunities for experiencing target the culture and practical practices of the target language.
In this study, it is suggested that new Korean text books contain realistic daily conversation topics that could be developed for enhancing Hong Kong Korean learners’ interests at their learning and their learning efficiency.
Quantitative research methods were used for collecting data, especially for students’ interests and their difficulties whilst studying. Also, the suggestions for developing the new text books were introduced through analysis of the learners’ needs for studying, existent text books and corpus of oral communication. In every chapter, depending on the conversation topics, the practical conversation texts with appropriate grammar, expressions and vocabulary replicating real life conversations were given for maximizing authentic conversational experiences. This study could be a contribution on Korean education in Hong Kong for Chinese Korean learners who have difficulties on their Korean studies due to lack of exposure on Korean language and culture.
