외국어로서의 한국어 교육에 있어서 언어의 기능 중 이해교육은 표현교육에 비해 그 중요성이 덜 강조되어 왔다. 하지만, 언어 교육에 있어 이해기능은 표현기능과 서로 상호작용을 통해 학습자의 의사소통 능력을 향상시킬 수 있다. 이에 본 논고에서는 읽기 교육의 중요성을 언급하고 읽기 전략을 통한 시 읽기 교육 방법에 대해 논의하고자 하였다.
언어 학습에서 읽기 전략은 언어 학습 전략의 하위개념으로 효과적인 언어 및 내용 학습을 강조하는 학습전략에 대한 연구로부터 시작되었다. 읽기 전략이란 독자가 목표를 달성하기 위해 의식적으로 선택하는 읽기 방법으로 읽기 기술이나 활동을 의식적으로 읽기 과정에서 사용하게 되면 모두 읽기 전략이라 본다.
언어 교육에서 문학은 기초적 의사소통뿐만 아니라 고급스런 텍스트를 이해하고 한국 문화에 대한 올바른 이해를 바탕으로 완전한 의사소통을 하는데 기여한다. 그 중 시 텍스트는 인간 보편적 주제를 다루고 있을 뿐만 아니라 간결한 한국어로 창작된 시의 아름다움을 즐길 수 있다.
한국어 교육에 있어 읽기 전략을 활용한 시 읽기 교육을 위해 대학기관별 교재의 시 작품을 분석하였는데, 교재에 수록된 작품 현황을 살펴본 결과 교재별로 수록된 작품의 수와 제시된 유형의 편차가 심한 편으로 나타났으며, 교재별로 시 작품에 따라 사용된 전략이 서로 달랐고, 읽기전략이 전혀 사용되지 않은 교재도 있었다. 시 작품에 따른 읽기 전략 분석 내용과 선행 연구를 통해 시 텍스트 읽기 전략을 읽기 전-중-후 단계로 설정하고 각 단계별로 시 작품을 읽기 위한 전략을 세분하였다.
대학기관별 작품 분석을 통해 김소월의 “진달래 꽃”과 김춘수의 “꽃”을 선정하여 읽기 수업을 지도하고자 하였다. 되도록 학습자가 직접 작품을 읽고 감상을 통해 시의 주제와 시의 정서를 느낄 수 있도록 과도한 시의 배경지식은 생략하여 제시하였다.
그러나 본 연구에서 제시한 수업 지도안은 실제 수업에 활용하여 검증하지 못하였다는 점에서 한계점을 가진다. 작성된 수업 지도안은 실제 수업에서 발생할 수도 있는 돌발사항에 대한 대처사항이 존재하지 않아 아쉬움을 남긴다.
하지만 이 연구가 추후 한국어 교육에 있어서 읽기 전략을 활용한 시 읽기 교육을 위한 읽기 기준에 참고가 될 수 있다는데서 본 연구의 의의를 찾을 수 있다.

In educating Korean language as a foreign language, less emphasis has been put on understanding education over expressing education in terms of language skills. However, in educating a language, understanding function can improve the learner’s communication skills through interaction with expressive function. Hence, this described the importance of reading education and discussed the method of poem-reading education by reading strategies.
In chapter 2, scholars’ reading strategies based on theoretical background were suggested, reading strategies suitable for literary texts were reorganized, and reading strategies for poetry education were redefined. The process of reading poems was classified into three steps: before reading, during reading, and after reading, and a reading strategy step by step according to the process of reading poems was presented.
Chapter 3 is concerned with the analysis of poems which appeared in texts of universities to examine the current situation of poetry education in Korean language institutes. The result of analysis indicated that there were wide variations in the number of poems which appeared in each text and the type presented. The strategy used depended on poems in each text and there was even a text that did not use a reading strategy. After analyzing reading strategies for poems which appeared in texts, it presented the method of a reading strategy for poem texts so that it could give useful information to guidance plan in chapter 4.
In chapter 4, guidance plans were devised on teaching-learning scheme for literature by classifying poems selected following selection criteria into three steps such as before reading, during reading, and after reading. It pieced together the detailed criteria for the selection of texts and organized and presented the criteria used in this . Accordingly, ‘Jindalekkot (Azaleas)’ by Kim Soweol and ‘Kkot (Flowers)’ by Kim Chunsoo were selected to give reading lessons. Guidance plan on reading lessons was arranged and presented according to reading process, and course work included reading strategies during lessons.
However, the guidance plan in this has limitations in that it has not been verified through use in real lessons. It is unfortunate that the guidance plan for teaching has not included the coping method of unexpected situations during real lessons.
Nevertheless, this study has significance in that it has presented the criteria for poem-reading education utilizing reading strategies in educating Korean language in the future.
