The purpose of this study is to offer an effective educational plan of Korean Sonorants for Chinese learners in beginner level. The pronouncing experiment of initial consonants, middle consonants, and end consonants about Korean Sonorants was conducted for Chinese beginner learners. The aspect of Korean Sonorants’ errors and the cause of errors are revealed and the educational plan for Korean Sonorants as well is proposed.
In Chapter 1, the purpose and the need of this study are revealed, the methodology of the study is explained, and the preceding research is reviewed.
In Chapter 2, the consonant system and syllable structures of Korean language and Chinese language are comparatively presented. Also, the expected possible forms of errors are predicted.
In Chapter 3, the pronouncing experiment was conducted order to investigate the Chinese beginner learners’ pronunciation errors.
The mistakes of initial consonants, like /ㅁ, ㄹ/을, are the mainly caused by the Chinese beginner learners. Especially the/ㄹ/ is not pronounced as [ɾ but being pronounced as /ㄴ/. The middle consonants were pronounced like syllables’ pronounce which is at front of this consonant. In the case like end consonants, the pronunciation is not properly executed and instead a different sound and resulting to an error. In case of the reiteration of Korean Sonorants consonant pronunciation, the initial sonorant sound of the first syllable is omitted and the reading only of the end syllable of middle consonants is shown to be a problem.
In Chapter 4, the pronunciation educational designed plan principles are presented and the Korean Sonorants pronunciation educational effective teacher’s teaching plans are arranged.
However, unfortunately, the proposed educational plan in this study is not verified clearly. Hence, it is recommended to take further related studies of Korean Sonorants and to implement necessary educational plans to make up the inadequate solutions.
