Abstract: The translation of foreign brand name has always been a hot topic in China. Firstly, the paper summarizes the major cultural origins of the foreign automobile brand names. Secondly, the paper explores the translation of foreign automobile brand name in the light of Skopos Theory. By reviewing the Skopos Theory and its three rules, namely, Skopos Rules, Coherent Rules and Loyalty Rules, the paper introduces the translation principles of foreign automobile brand name, followed by a conclusion of five methods: transliteration, literal translation, free translation, literal translation & free translation, abbreviation. The author aims at improving the translation of foreign automobile brand name by exploring the functionalist Skopos Theory and its three rules. 摘要: 外国汽车商标名的中文翻译一直是中国翻译界的热门话题。本文首先对国外汽车商标命名的主要文化来源进行总结。其次, 从功能主义目的论对外国汽车商标的翻译进行探索性研究。介绍了“翻译目的论”极其三法则,即目的规则、连贯规则、忠实规则,并对汽车商标的翻译原则进行了简单的介绍。并在分析商标实例的基础上,总结出可用于汽车商标汉译的五种方法: 音译, 直译, 意译, 音译+意译, 缩写,旨在探究功能主义目的论对汽车商标翻译的指导作用,以期提高汽车商标翻译实践。 关键词:汽车商标; 翻译;目的论 |
