Abstract: In order to find out the most suitable method to translate news headline, this paper discusses the translation of news headlines from the perspective of Skopos Theory which was put forward by Hans. J. Vermeer. According to Skopos Theory, the translation is a communicative action. After doing the comparison between Chinese and English news headlines, the writer found that they are both summaries of whole news reports. They also have the same function of attracting readers’ attentions. But they are still different in diction, grammar, and rhetoric. In the last part of this paper, the writer brings up some opinions about ways of news headline translation, combining with the function of the news headline and analyzing a lot of examples.

摘要：为了找到更好、更准确的方法和策略，本文运用德国翻译学家维米尔的“目的论”，讨论英文新闻标题的翻译问题。根据“目的论”，任何翻译都是有目的的交际行为。通过比较中英新闻标题的异同，本文发现中英新闻标题都是新闻内容的高度概括，具备着吸引读者的特点，但是中英新闻标题在措辞、语法，以及修辞方面有着很大的不同。本文通过对大量的实例进行分析，对新闻标题的汉译的具体策略提出一些看法。
