Chapter One Introduction
1.1 Background of the Research
Language is a tool for communication. In the four basic skills which are listening, speaking, reading and writing, listening is the most important skill. According to a survey in the United States a person during the time he is awake spends 70% of his or her time on all forms of communication activities, 11% is spent for writing and 15% is spent for reading, 32% for speaking, and at least 42% of the time for listening, (Cooper, 1998) which is sufficient to prove the importance of listening. With the developing of information technology and the growing trend of globalization, English learning is more and more significant in the world.
