Abstract
This paper attempts to investigate films made in the west and religious factors living in them, and introduce the religious influence upon the western movies. Starting from the western movies, it will analyze the cultural influence and focus on the influence of Christianity. In this way, it will discuss the religious culture and its impact on the western movies as well as the westerners’ religious concepts and ideas.

Films, especially Hollywood films, to name a few, action, comedy, horror and romance, thriller, ect., have obtained wide popularity among people. Nowadays, along with the developing technology, movies are becoming more and more interesting and attractive.
When enjoying the wonderful films, the viewers may come across such questions: what is a film or a movie? How is it made? Why do we enjoy that? Why do some movies enjoy such popularity, while others do not? All these are expected to be explored with detailed analysis in this thesis.
And this paper will, too, look into religion which has always been a significant factor living in movies. A case in point is that given the Christianity’s popularity in western countries, there are an expanding number of Christian signs seen in the western movies. When people watch such movies, they may easily come upon these questions: Why is there such religious influence on western movies? And what can be learnt from that? |
