The purpose of this thesis is to analyze translation patterns of English adverbs when they translate into Korean focusing on speech conversion, deletion, or addition of words or sentences. I examine the Reader's Digest 100 - Reader's Digest 102, original text on the basis of semantic analysis and its English-Korean translations with a direct comparative method depending on translation shifts. The reason why I especially selected ‘adverbs' translation patterns’ among eight parts of speech is that despite the high frequency of appearance of adverbs in sentences, there has been no study focusing on Korean translation of English adverbs. |
